I own two condos in the same complex, literally next door to each other. They have different mortgage companies. One company is telling me that the property is in a flood zone and I need flood insurance. The other is not requiring it, saying I’m not in a flood zone. How can i prove to the one charging me that I am not in a flood zone? Is there some special report I can order?

Get a copy of the flood plain map at the city or village hall.

Home insurance is actually very flexible. I’m not familiar with all the details of my policy, but my home insurance agent is always a phone call away. Try visting your agent or a agent in your area. http://www.goodinternetdeals.com/Home-Insurance.html They will be able to assist you.

Yes, you can get a copy of the Flood Zone Determination from your local agent, Land Commissioner, or even FEMA. It will tell you what flood zone you are in. Flood zones B, C, and X are good to be in and anything that starts with A or V is bad. If in fact you ar in on of the good zone you can turn that into the agency that says your not in a non hazardous flood Zone and they can rewrite it. If they wont accept that your next option is an Elevation Certificate. That is competed by a surveyor and show different measurement on ur home.
Hope this helps!!!
