My friend wanted to have an abortion. She couldn’t afford it because she waited to late. Wants me to take baby home from hospital. She doesn’t want anyone else to have the baby. She can’t afford to take care of this baby. She has five kids already. What can I do? Should I contact a lawyer in her town. She lives about 200 miles away from me. I would love to have another child in my home. But I know that he or she will need medical insurance and everything I have for my other children. Help

Contact a lawyer in your jurisdiction who specializes in adoption law. Do it quickly, because there are many, many things which need to be handled before the baby’s arrival.

You need to contact a family law attorney and find out what your options are before the baby is born. I would talk to friends and family and get a recommendation for a lawyer that is 1)highly recommended 2) convenient to meet with in that order. It will save you a lot of heartache and legal expense later.

She could talk to someone in her Department of Children’s Services area. She could express that she has picked out a new family and make her wishes clear. They will be able to help her with all the legal paperwork.
Or you could contact an adoption attorney and they will complete the paperwork for you. Either way you go you will have to have a home study done in order to adopt the child legally. The attorney will cost you about $2-4k.
If for some reaason this doesn’t work out for you my hubby and I are looking to adopt a child too.
Good luck and God bless you as you expand your family.

OBVIOUSLY YOU NEED TO CONTACT A LAWYER BUT THE ONE THING YOU NEED TO REMEBER MAKE SURE THE LAWYER IS WILLING TO TAKE THE CASE IN ANOTHER JURISTICTION. GOOD LUCK!

Both of you need to contact attorneys that specialize in family law, adoption, etc. In addition, BOTH she and the baby’s father will have to sign papers relinquishing their parental rights. If she puts the baby up for adoption without his knowledge or consent, he has the legal right to seek custody. Talk to a lawyer and have her do the same to see what you need to do.
