I am a student that lives off of student loans. I get a check every semester for about $5300 so about 10, 800 per year. I live with my boyfriend so I know that I must include his income as well. He makes about $400 a week. With all of our bills (rent, car payment, insurance, credit cards) we do not have much money left over at the end of the month. I have attempted to look for income requirements, but cannot find any. Do you think I will be denied coverage because we make too much?
Actually, I already did apply. I have an interview next Monday. I am just a worry wart that does not like to go into situations blind.
Also, I believe 400 is his gross income. When I called the medicaid office they informed me that my student loan does not count as income, but on the form it said to include so I did.

no, you will not be denied. just go down to the local health and human services and fill out the app. i don’t think that you will find much online. but i was in pretty much the same position. also, i don’t think that they turn away too many pregnant women. with all your expenses and everything, you should be covered.

you might because 400 a week is kinda a lot. they don’t care about credit card bills or if you have like cable or anything like that that’s all “extras” in life. you can always apply and see what happens though worse case they deny you.

well i doubt you will be denied thinking about it my friends hubby on his off season makes like 300 somethin a week and she still makes good money and they still get it so you should be fine.

I dont think that they can count you student loan money since that is supposed to be used for your education.but with his income of 400.00 per week is that before or after taxes because that is one of the questions that they ask you here in ga and my husband makes 600 per week and at the time I applied I was getting 660.00 per month in child support so I think you should be fine but if you still have doubts call your local dfcs office and ask them they will give you the income requirements and they should also be able to tell you how to go about applying good luck

keep in mind that the program will not consider what bills you have, and they go by gross income. I know that in Ohio for a family of 2, which is what you are considered right now is about $24,000. Good Luck!

Here is the link for the offices in Texas go by your zip code and that will be the office you need to go into. The sooner the better so get in there today if you can. Bring bills, paycheck stubs all that stuff you will need to show how much money you both get and how much money you both pay in bills. You will also need proof of pregnancy. If you dont have that go to planned parrent hood they will give you a copy for $35.

Student Loan money is not considered income… you didn’t earn it, you have to pay it back.
Does he GROSS 400 or take home $400?

First of all they also go by how old your car is. It can’t be work more than 2 to 3 thousand. So if it’s in your boyfriends name that’s good. They go by the income to family size ratio. You don’t have to be so honest………….don’t say you live with your boyfriend………….just say it’s a friend or family member(cousin). I know things get tough…….I’ve been there. Just get on it for yourself. It’s not that difficult and they won’t go checking on you. It gets better sweetie. Do what’s best for you and your baby ok. They will ask you some questions about your vehicle, who you live with, if you pay rent, and they will give you a domicile form to write down your income and whoever lives with you income and someone other than who lives with you must sign it to verify that the information is correct. Just pick someone who understands what you are going through to sign it.
When I was pregnant with my first child I lived with my parents. I had a car that I wasn’t paying on any longer and they were going to repo it. I made the mistake of telling the medicaid people that I had a newer model vehicle and they denied me the benefits. Even though I had no income. So a few weeks later I applied again……..they since took my car so I got the medicaid.
OH!!!!!!!! You can also get WIC for you now!!!!!!!!!!!! The WIC office is seperate from the medicaid office. You need to find one in your area. It’s so easy to get. They just need your income paperwork,ss#,proof of address and ID. You can get a little food……….heck apply for food stamps too!!!!!!!!! You can, your pregnant!!!!!!!!!
After all your single still and living with family………….lol!!!!!!!!!
